Men's Tennis Drops Match To No. 18 Sewanee

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis fell to the No. 18 Sewanee Tigers on Friday afternoon, 8-1, from the Covenant Tennis Complex.

Tyler Kelly picked up the lone victory for the Scots at six singles as he defeated Edward O'Neal 6-1, 6-2.

Sewanee (14-5) ranked No. 18 in the country and third in the region, swept doubles competition in order.

Aubrey Davis and Jordan Brewer took the one spot over Paxton Haggerty and Trey Wood 8-2. Fletcher Kerr and Ryan Wax took care of Logan Hull and Chris Morton 8-4 just before Mac McCullough and Hamza Khan defeated Kelly and Ben Luke 8-4.

The Tigers clinched the match with a Kerr victory over Hull 6-0, 6-1 at one singles. Haggerty played a tough first set with Davis falling 6-3 in set one, before falling 6-0 in set number two at the two.

Cameron Cortman took two games in the first set before eventually falling in the second set 6-1 against Mike Tefel at the five spot. The next match saw Kelly come away victorious for the Scots to get the lone point for Covenant (6-7). Morton played a well-fought match in before falling 7-5, 6-3 to Thomas Harrison at four singles.

Covenant looks to get back on the winning ways as they travel to Brevard. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m
