Men's Tennis Falls To Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. -- The Covenant men's tennis team fell to Piedmont, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon from the Burgen Tennis Courts.

Ben Luke was the only Scot to bring home a win at the match defeating Harrison LaBollita 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at two singles. Logan Hull fell to Karter Cumbass in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 at one singles for the Lions to take a 4-0 match lead. Chris Morton went up on Jarret Gray, at the three flight, 1-0 taking the first set 6-4 before Gray was able to take the final two sets 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Lions.

Cameron Courtman played his opponent tough before falling 6-2, 6-4 at the four spot. Trey Wood then fell to Chase Morris 6-4, 6-0 at five, and Tyler Kelly dropped his match to Andrew Chitty 6-1, 6-3.

Covenant (5-6, 5-2 USA South) fell behind after doubles play 3-0 behind a trio of 8-4 losses.

Hull and Morton fell to Gray and Cumbass at the one flight while Wood and Cortman fell to LaBolitta and Chitty by the same score. Piedmont (10-3, 7-0 USA South) finished up the doubles sweep as Morris and Houston Medlock took care of Ben Luke and Tyler Kelly 8-4.


Covenant looks to get back on their winning ways as they make-up a match that was originally scheduled for Feb. 22nd against LaGrange on Friday. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
