Hull Picks Up Two Wins, Men's Tennis Falls to Centre

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's tennis team fell to Centre 6-3 on Friday evening inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of the McCallie School.

After dropping both one and three doubles 8-4, Covenant (0-3) was able to get their first point of the match as Logan Hull and Chris Morton defeated Max Middleton and Ben Hadlock 8-4 to go into singles play down 2-1.

The Scots were able to take away points at both one and six singles. Hull took set one 6-3 before Arpit Maini forced a super tiebreaking third set at the one spot. Hull was able to take the set 10-6 and pick up the hosts second point of the contest.

At six singles Tyler Kelly defeated Danny Nelson in straight sets. Kelly took set number one 6-3 before taking set two in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-2) to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Paxton Haggerty dropped the first set 6-3 to Middleton at two singles. Middleton won the second set 6-2 to take the match. Ben Luke made his opponent work at the three spot dropping set one 6-4 before dropping set two 6-3. Cameron Cortman lost the first set 6-2 and made Hadlock earn the victory dropping set two 6-4.

Centre is now 1-4.

Covenant was scheduled to take on LaGrange tomorrow in their conference opener but had to postpone due to inclement weather. A makeup date has yet to be announced.


Covenant is scheduled to open up USA South play against Piedmont on Tuesday on top of Lookout Mountain. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
