ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Covenant men's tennis team fell to Oglethorpe on Saturday, 8-1, at the Howell Courts in Atlanta.
The Stormy Petrels swept the doubles matches taking a 3-0 lead into singles. Paxton Haggerty and Trey Wood played Walker Benson and Michael Santaloci to an 8-4 match at the one spot. At two doubles Logan Hull and Chris Morton took four games from Richard Johnson and Connor Sisson.
Ben Luke scored the lone point for the Scots winning three singles 6-3, 6-1 over Johnson. Hull made Benson work before falling 6-4, 6-3 at number one. Haggerty was the only other Covenant (0-2) player to force a set to nine games dropping the first set 6-3 before falling 6-1 in set number at two singles.
The match was the season opener for Oglethorpe.
The Scots return for their home opener as they are scheduled to take on Centre on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
