LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- After earning a second straight USA South West Division regular season title, the Covenant men's tennis team is the No. 1 seed from the West in this week's USA South Tournament in LaGrange, Ga.

The Scots (15-3, 8-1 USA South) have two regular season matches this week (Tuesday at Sewanee and Wednesday at home against Maryville) before making the trek south. Covenant has a bye into the semifinal round of the USA South Tournament and will face the winner of No. 2 East seed Methodist and No. 3 West seed LaGrange on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The 15 wins are a program record, while the eight conference victories is also the most in a season. Covenant is also currently regionally ranked at No. 20 in the ITA Atlantic South region poll.

Covenant will be making its third-ever appearance in the USA South Tournament, and the second in as many years. It will also be the second straight year in which the Scots have had a bye into the semifinals.

As has been the case over the last four seasons, Covenant is led by the play of Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox. Together, the duo has combined for a 17-2 overall record in doubles play, while setting a single-season program record with 16 dual match doubles wins. The tandem has won 15 straight at the top spot, entering Tuesday's match at Sewanee. Separately, Harvie, ranked No. 19 in the region, is 14-2 overall at the top singles spot and Cox is 15-3 on the year at No. 2.

The rest of the lineup has also produced throughout the year. Logan Hull has tallied 12 singles wins, while freshmen Taylor Galloway (nine wins) and Paxton Haggerty (six wins) have combined for 15 singles victories. Ben Tonkel has been a consistent performer at the bottom of the order with his 11 singles victories, seven of which have come at the No. 6 spot.

Covenant is 8-3 all-time vs. LaGrange, including a pair of victories this season. The Scots are 1-3 against Methodist, but have not played the Monarchs since Feb. 20, 2016.
