LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team tied a program record for wins in a season with their 12th after an 8-1 victory over Huntingdon on Friday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.

The win moves Covenant to 12-3 overall and 6-1 inside the USA South. The 12 wins ties last year's victory total as the most in a single-season in program history. Huntingdon drops to 6-7 on the year and 3-5 in the league.

Covenant dominated much of the play throughout the match. Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox won their 13th straight doubles match after handling Huntingdon's duo of Bailey Burns and Ben Marler, 8-2, at the top spot. Harvie and Cox have lost just once in dual matches this year. At No. 3, Paxton Haggerty and Trey Wood combined for an 8-1 win over Trevor Berry and Anjala Chandrasoma as the Scots took a 2-1 match lead.

Fresh off being ranked in the Atlantic South region poll by the ITA on Thursday, Harvie continued his dominance in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Burns at the No. 1 spot. Harvie moves to 12-2 overall in singles matches and it was his 47th career win.

Cox earned his 52nd career singles win, stretching a program record, with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the second flight over Adam Self. Logan Hull was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Mark Melchor at the third spot, while Taylor Galloway won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.

Haggerty and Ben Tonkel rounded out the wins for Covenant. Haggerty took a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Chandrasoma at the fifth position and Tonkel won his 10th singles match of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Berry at No. 6.
