LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Senior Matthew Harvie and the Covenant men's tennis team are both ranked regionally by the ITA in the organization's March 29 Atlantic South region poll.
Covenant is ranked No. 20 in the region, the first time the Scots have ever been regionally ranked. The Scots are one of four USA South teams ranked in the poll, joining North Carolina Wesleyan (No. 7), Methodist (No. 14) and Averett (No. 15).
Harvie checks in at No. 19 in the region and the senior is one of three USA South players ranked individually. It is the third straight year that Harvie has earned at least one region ranking during the year, but it is the highest ranking the senior has received. Harvie is 11-2 overall on the year in singles, and 10-1 in dual matches only. He knocked off a regionally-ranked Jacob Weinacker of Birmingham Southern on Feb. 9 in his lone match against a ranked foe this year.
For his career, Harvie is now 46-15 overall, which currently leads the program's history in winning percentage at .754.
The Scots (11-3, 5-1 USA South) are off to their best start in program history and one win shy of tying a single-season program record for victories. Covenant is back in action on Friday at home against Huntingdon (2 p.m.) before hosting LaGrange (11 a.m.) on Saturday.
