MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Covenant men's tennis team continued its winning ways on Friday as the Scots downed Huntingdon 7-2 at the Gibbs Tennis Center in USA South action.
The win for Covenant (11-9, 6-1 USA South) keeps the Scots tied atop the USA South West Division standings with one match remaining. It also gives Covenant 11 wins on the year, which ties a program record for a single-season.
The Scots took control of the match by taking a pair of doubles victories. Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox took down John Jones and Bailey Burns 8-2 at the No. 1 spot, while Logan Hull and Micah Fox were 8-5 winners at the No. 2 position.
In singles play, Harvie and Cox took care of business at the top two spots. Harvie won 6-1, 6-3 at the top spot over Jones and Cox bested Justin McQueen 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Hull and Fox also took wins in singles action as Hull was a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) winner at No. 3 over Adam Self and Fox took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 against Burns.
Ben Tonkel capped the victory with his 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Covenant will conclude the regular season on Saturday at USA South foe LaGrange. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
