FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- For a second time this season, Covenant men's tennis freshman Logan Hull has been named the USA South Rookie of the Week, as the conference announced its weekly honors on Monday.
Hull also earned the award on Feb. 20.
A freshman from Conyers, Ga., Hull went 2-1 in both singles and doubles play last week to help the Scots to a 2-1 overall record. Hull avenged an earlier season loss to Piedmont's Jackson Hill by winning 6-3, 6-0 last Tuesday to clinch a Scots victory over the Lions and propel Covenant to first place in the USA South West Division. After dropping a three-set decision in singles to Sewanee on Friday, Hull capped the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Berea's Ethan Hughes on Saturday.
In doubles play, Hull and teammate Micah Fox went 2-1 at the No. 2 spot. The tandem took down Piedmont's Robbie Werner and Bryan Barnett 8-5 and also took an 8-0 win over Berea's Hughes and Chris Malpartida on the week.
For the season, Hull is 10-8 overall in singles play, mostly at the No. 3 spot, and 10-7 in doubles with Fox.
Covenant (9-9, 4-1 USA South) is scheduled to host Maryville in a USA South matchup on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on Lookout Mountain.
