Fox Commits to Covenant Men's Tennis

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Micah Fox, a senior from Ellington High School (Ellington, Conn.), has committed to attend Covenant College and play tennis for the Scots and head coach John Hirte starting in the fall of 2016.

Fox wrapped up a perfect senior year of high school tennis with 15-0 record at No. 1 singles, 23-1 including pre-and post-season play. Fox was a four-time All-Conference and two-time All-State player. He won the CIAC Class M state doubles championship in 2015 and led his team to its first-ever North Central Connecticut Conference championship in 2016. Fox was also a significant contributor to the Ellington varsity basketball team for three years.

"I like the idea of being in a warmer climate for college and I met many great people and liked the coaches on my recruiting trip to Covenant," Fox said about his decision. "Being from a PCA church family, I like the idea of being at our denominational college and I am very interested in the possibility of playing both varsity basketball and tennis at Covenant."

"Micah is a natural-born athlete who has experienced a lot of team and individual success throughout his high school career, and has been well-respected by both coaches and peers as a team leader," Hirte said. "He brings depth and experience to our roster, and I see him only continuing to improve as a college athlete.  I look forward to seeing him continue to grow during his time at Covenant."

Fox is currently undecided on a major at Covenant.
