FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant men's tennis sophomore Chris Cox has been named the USA South Player of the Week for the period ending March 20, announced the conference on Monday.
Cox is the second men's tennis player to earn the honor this year joining Matthew Harvie (Feb. 29).
A sophomore from Maitland, Fla., Cox went 3-0 in both singles and doubles on the week. The sophomore defeated Berry's Chase Gooding 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday. On Saturday, he won 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 over Averett's Nicolas Quevedo before knocking off Centre's Luke Brooks 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, Cox and teammate Matthew Harvie combined for an 8-1 victory over Berry's No. 1 duo before taking an 8-1 win against an Averett duo and an 8-4 triumph against Centre.
On the year, Cox is 7-5 in singles play and also 7-5 in doubles. Cox and Harvie have combined for a 7-4 record as a duo in doubles play.
