Men's Tennis Defeated at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Covenant men's tennis team got a victory in doubles play from Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox, but the Scots eventually fell to Methodist 8-1 in USA South action on Saturday afternoon.

Covenant drops to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the USA South, while Methodist is 1-0 in both.

Harvie and Cox combined for a 9-7 win over Methodist's Taylor Buchholz and John Dangerfield at the top doubles spot. Covenant went into singles play down 2-1.

Harvie took Methodist's R.J. Clement to three set before falling 7-5, 0-6, 7-6 at the No. 1 position. Cox fell to Buchholz at the second spot 6-2, 6-2 and the Monarchs would take the final four singles matches to claim the victory.

UP NEXT

Covenant will travel to Maryville and Johnson on Saturday, Feb. 27. Match time at Maryville is set for 12 p.m., while the Johnson matches will take place in Knoxville at 4 p.m.
