LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox took singles victories, but that was not enough for the Covenant men's tennis team to overcome Piedmont on Tuesday as the visiting Lions took a 7-2 victory.

Covenant falls for a second straight time and goes to 7-8 overall and 4-4 inside the USA South. Piedmont improves to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Harvie took a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot over Nathan Metzger, while Cox bested Matthew Metzger in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Covenant would hang around in other matches, but would be unable to get another point. Michael O'Brien fell to Trey Martin 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 3 position and Roy Anderson, on his Senior Day, dropped a 7-6, 6-0 decision to Robbie Werner. In doubles play, Harvie and Cox were bested by the Metzgers 8-6.

Covenant will conclude the regular season on Friday at Averett in Danville, Va. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
