Scots Tennis Gains Commitment from Madden

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Dan Madden, a graduating senior from Bishop, Georgia and Oconee County High School has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Madden has expressed his intent to become a full-time student and play tennis for the Scots and head coach John Hirte starting in the fall of 2014.

"I am thrilled that Dan will be a Covenant Scot next fall," said Hirte. "He is a young man with a lot of great gifts and leadership qualities that will bring a lot to our tennis team, and also to the Covenant community."

Madden just finished up a stellar senior season at Oconee County, helping his team advance all the way to the Elite 8 of the Class AAA GHSA State Tournament. He compiled an 18-2 record at No. 1 doubles, and was selected to the all-region team for the third consecutive year.

"I chose Covenant because of the community," said Madden. "When it came time to make my decision it wasn't that difficult at all because I loved the tight-knit community, and also the dorm life."

Madden plans to pursue a major in Education or History with a minor in Youth Ministry when he enrolls at Covenant this fall.
