LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team fell to non-conference foe Point University 8-1 on Thursday evening under the lights at the on-campus tennis complex.
The loss drops Covenant to 1-14 on the season. Point, which was playing its second match of the day after defeating Dalton State, improves to 8-7 overall.
Jonathan Turner was the lone Scot to record a victory on the night. Turner, playing at No. 6 singles, defeated Point's Anthony Tucker in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 10-7. No. 1 singles player Michael O'Brien fell 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2, Frank Portlock was defeated 6-2, 6-0, while Jonah Anderson lost 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 position. Roy Anderson and Nathan Hernandez also suffered defeats at singles Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
Covenant earned just two points in doubles play as Point built a 3-0 advantage.
The Scots will be back in action on Tuesday, April 1 at Piedmont in Demorest, Ga. Matches begin at 3 p.m.
