ROME, Ga. -- After helping the Covenant men's soccer team to an undefeated regular season in the USA South, senior Josh Brower was tabbed as the conference's Player of the Week, for the period ending on Oct. 27, announced the league on Monday.
A senior from Birmingham, Ala., Brower tallied three goals and one assist in a 3-0 week for the Scots against USA South competition as Covenant finished off an unblemished (13-0) league record and captured the West Division title.
In a 2-0 win over Brevard, Brower was in on both Scot goals as he assisted on the first and scored the second. In a 3-2, overtime, win at Greensboro, Brower scored the game-tying goal on a free kick in the 82nd minute. Finally, in a 2-1 victory over William Peace, Brower scored Covenant's first goal in the 12th minute.
Brower finished the regular season with career-highs in goals (10) and assists (11). His 11 assists leads the USA South, while he is one of two players in the league to record double-digit goals and assists during the regular season. The senior scored in each of the final four regular season matches for the Scots.
Brower's play helped Covenant (16-2-1, 13-0 USA South) to a regular season division title and home-field advantage in the USA South Tournament. The Scots will host No. 4 West seed LaGrange on Saturday at Scotland Yard. Match time will be determined later this week.
