JACKSON, Miss. -- The Covenant men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision at Millsaps on Saturday night in Jackson.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Scots who move to 1-5 on the year. Millsaps improves to 5-1 overall.
The Scots had a tough time getting anyting moving offensively as they were shut out for a second time this year. Millsaps had a 16-5 advantage in shots taken. Mike Arango led the Scots with two shots, while Russell Harrison and Nate Mackey each put one on target.
Millsaps struck in the 14th minute when Nico Roth converted a penalty kick. In the second half, Steven Chrobok made it 2-0 in the 54th minute with his first goal of the year, assisted by Roth and Alex Bourland. Bourland concluded the scoring in the 81st minute as he found the back of the net to put the host Majors ahead 3-0.
Covenant will open USA South play next weekend on the road at Greensboro on Friday, Sept. 25 and then Ferrum on Saturday, Sept. 26. Match time on Friday's match in Greensboro, N.C., is set for 4 p.m.
