LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Coming off a 1-0-1 week, the Covenant men's soccer team has moved into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) South Atlantic rankings at No. 9 this week.
The Scots are 7-3-2 overall and 3-0-1 in USA South play on the season. It is the highest regional ranking Covenant has had since officially joining NCAA Division III.
Head coach Nathan Pifer's squad played to a 0-0 draw at Maryville last Tuesday before routing USA South foe LaGrange 5-0 in front of a Homecoming crowd on Saturday night.
The Scots have played three of the top five teams in the region this season. Covenant defeated No. 3 Rutgers-Newark 3-1 in August and had 2-1 defeats to both No. 1 Emory and No. 5 Birmingham Southern. Covenant will take on N.C. Wesleyan, ranked No. 8, on Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C.
