SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's soccer team got first collegiate scores from senior Roy Anderson and freshman Andrew Jablon as they defeated Sewanee 4-0 on the road Friday night.

The victory puts the Scots at 3-2 on the season, while Sewanee drops to 2-3 overall.

Covenant got on the board first in the 13th minute when a cross from Russell Harrison was headed in by a Sewanee defender for an own goal giving the Scots a quick 1-0 lead on the road. In the 25th minute, Ian Meredith notched his third goal of the season, off an assist from Gordon Carpenter, to make it 2-0.

Anderson found the back of the net for the first time in his career in an odd way in the 39th minute. Anderson had a throw-in from the side and it went towards the net where Tigers keeper Conrad Bandoroff mishandled the ball allowing it to trickle into the net for a 3-0 Scots edge.

The score remained 3-0 until the 89th minute when Snoopy Davidson connected with Jablon who found the back of the net to give Covenant a 4-0 lead.

Each team took 14 shots, but Covenant had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Covenant keeper Daniel Kubin records his first career shutout while making five saves. Bandoroff made four saves for Sewanee.

Covenant will return home on Tuesday to take on Oglethorpe in non-conference action. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
