ATLANTA, Ga. -- Sebastian Hardington's goal in the 106th minute of play lifted No. 13 Emory to a 2-1 victory over the Covenant men's soccer team on Wednesday night at Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

The loss drops Covenant to 2-2 on the year while Emory, ranked 13th in the latest NSCAA Top 25, remains unbeaten at 4-0-1 overall.

After a scoreless first half, Covenant got on the board first in the second half. Snoopy Davidson recorded his second goal of the year as he put the Scots ahead 1-0 in the 53rd minute, off an assist from Danny Knight

Emory got the equalizer in the 65th minute when Jason McCartney had his header off a throw-in get past Covenant keeper Daniel Kubin to knot the score at 1-1. Emory would have one more shot on goal in the second period, but Covenant's defense would stand tall to send the match into overtime.

Joel Friesen had a shot on goal in the 91st minute, but Emory keeper Abe Hannigan made the save to preserve the tie. In the second overtime session, Covenant would take one shot before Emory collected the golden goal.

Kubin made four saves and faced 16 shots on the night. Emory's Hannigan tallied one save. Emory outshot the Scots 17-11 and had an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Davidson led the Scots with three shots, while Friesen and Gordon Carpenter took two apiece.

Covenant returns to action on Friday night when they travel to Sewanee to take on the Tigers. Match time is set for 8 p.m. eastern time.
