FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Men's soccer senior Ian Meredith has been named USA South Player of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
Meredith is one of five different Covenant student-athletes to be recognized by the conference this week. This is the second straigh week that Covenant has had the men's soccer player of the week as Joel Friesen took the honor in week one.
The senior from Nairobi, Kenya, scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Scots to a 1-1 record last week. In a 2-1 loss to Wilmington on Friday, Meredith scored Covenant's lone goal in the 52nd minute of play. In Saturday's 3-2 comeback victory over Millsaps, Meredith produced the game-winning score in the 85th minute and also tallied an assist earlier in the second half.
For his efforts, Meredith was named to the David Taaffe Invitational All-Tournament team.
