FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Senior Joel Friesen has been named the USA South Men's Soccer Player of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
Friesen is one of six student-athletes from Covenant to earn weekly USA South awards this week. It is the second Player of the Week honor from the USA South in Friesen's career.
The senior from Waxhaw, North Carolina, recorded his first career hat trick in Covenant's 3-1 victory over Rutgers-Newark in the Sonny Carter Invitational last Friday. Friesen had a goal in the first half and two more in the second period to give the Scots a season-opening victory. Friesen's previous single-match high for goals was two, which came last year in a victory over Emory.
