Davidson Earns First Team, Four Other Scots Recognized All-USA South

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference announced its men's soccer All-Conference teams on Wednesday afternoon and five Covenant players were recognized.

Snoopy Davidson earned first team honors, Hunter Harrison, Shuler Polk and Matt Hudnut were selected to the second team, while Garrison Dale was a third team choice and Covenant's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.

Methodist's Eric McGinnis was selected as the Player of the Year, Averett's Adil Iich was the Rookie of the Year, and Maryville head coach Pepe Fernandez was honored as Coach of the Year. All awards were voted on by the head coaches in the league.

Davidson, a junior from Rome, Ga., tied for the team lead with six goals and five assists on the year. He was named USA South Offensive Player of the Week on October 14 and NSCAA Player of the Week for Division III the following day after scoring five goals and tallying three assists in a week's span. Davidson's best performance came on Homecoming as he recorded two goals and three assists in Covenant's 5-1 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.

Harrison, a junior from Greenville, S.C., anchored a Covenant defense that allowed 0.96 goals per game, which was second in the league. Although he starred on the back line, the junior also added two goals and an assist for the season.

Polk was again solid at the net for the Scots. The senior from Fountain Inn, S.C., played and started all 20 matches and compiled 88 saves and five shutouts. He had a season-high 11 saves in the USA South first round match against Averett last Saturday. Polk had a goals against average of 0.99 and a saves percentage of 81.5. He was named USA South Defensive Player of the Week on September 2 and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District on October 31.

Also on the second team was Hudnut. The St. Louis, Mo., native scored two goals, including one game-winner, to go with two assists while playing a solid midfield for the Scots. He finishes his Covenant career with 16 goals and six assists.

Dale was the only Covenant player on the third team. The senior from Statesville, N.C., tallied five goals and one assist for the year. He had three goals in the final two matches of the regular season to help Covenant to a No. 4 seed in the USA South tournament.
