The win is the second straight for the Scots as they push their record to 3-1-1 on the season. Berry drops to 2-2-1.
After a scoreless first 45 minutes of play, Covenant got on the board first in the second half. Noah Wiersema found Friesen who converted on the shot for his first goal of the season in the 47th minute to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.
Berry would find the equalizer in the 49th minute when Christian Zapata found the back of the net, assisted by Kyle Fitting.
But Covenant would have the final answer as Huertas got his shot past Berry keeper Logan Hill in the 76th minute to produce the game-winner. Ian Meredith was credited with the assist on the play. It was Huertas' first score since 2011 and the second of his career.
For a fourth straight contest, the Scots outshot their opponent as they held a 16-12 advantage on Tuesday, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Covenant keeper Shuler Polk made two saves while his counterpart Hill made five.
The Scots will play again on Friday night when they host Centre at Scotland Yard. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
