FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference welcomes two additions to the league. As of July 1, 2013, Covenant College and Huntingdon College are officially full-members of the USA South. Each institution is a former member of the Great South Athletic Conference. The USA South now consists of 13 full-members and two affiliate members (Agnes Scott and Christopher Newport). Former full-member, Christopher Newport University has departed for the Capital Athletic Conference in all sports except for football. The Captains will remain an affiliate member of the USA South in the sport of football.
The Covenant Scots, located in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, currently offer six men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis) and seven women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball).
The Huntingdon Hawks, located in Montgomery, Alabama, currently offer eight men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis) and nine women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball).
The USA South is currently in the midst of redesigning their website and will soon feature Covenant and Huntingdon amongst the remainder of the Conference institutions at the top of the site.
Additionally, the 2013-14 season will serve as the 50th for the Conference. The USA South will soon announce plans on how the League will celebrate the anniversary which will include a special edition 50th Anniversary Logo.
The NCAA will announce in a few weeks if Covenant has successfully completed year four of the transitional period and can be accepted as full members of NCAA Division III.
