LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Senior midfielder Chris Pifer was voted to the second team NSCAA/Continental Tire NCCAA All-American team, announced the organization on Monday.
This marks the first time since 2010 that Covenant has had a player earn All-American status. Julian Allgeier made first team in back-to-back seasons in 2009 and 2010.
Pifer, a 6 foot 2 senior from Lookout Mountain, Ga., was a captain on this season's Covenant squad that finished 10-10-1 and runner-up in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament. He started all 20 matches for the Scots and had a pair of goals on the season, both coming on penalty kicks.
One of Pifer's biggest scores of the season came in the second half of Covenant's match against Greenville College. Pifer was able to knock home his penalty kick late in the second half to tie the match. The Scots would go on and win in overtime and that victory would continue a streak of three straight wins.
In his career as a Scot, Pifer scored 11 goals and had three assists in 80 matches played.
Hudnut was also recognized as an honorable mention. The junior had a pair of game-winning goals in overtime and was the NCCAA Player of the Week on September 24.
