LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's soccer team has drawn the third-seed and will face second-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the semifinal round of the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament at 3:30 p.m. EST on November 16 in Jackson, Tenn.
Union (Tenn.) University is the top seed, and also the host, and will take on fourth-seed Tennessee Temple at 6:00 p.m. The winner of the two matches will face each other in the championship match set for Saturday, November 17 at 6:00 p.m.
The winner of the region will then move on to the NCCAA Men's Soccer Division I National Tournament held on November 28-December 1 in Kissimmee, Fla.
Covenant finished its regular season with a 9-9-1 record. The Scots were led offensively by Matt Hudnut and Tyler Morrison who each scored six goals. Garrison Dale is third on the team with five goals. The Scots won two of their last three matches to close the regular season.
Last season, Covenant was defeated 1-0 in overtime by Oakland City University in the region championship game. The Scots went to the national tournament two straight years in 2009 and 2010. In their last visit in 2010, Covenant finished in fourth place.
