LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant Scots wrapped up their 2012 regular season at Scotland Yard on a very cold evening with blistering winds. The Scots fell to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans 2-0.
The Scots took time before the game to honor their five seniors as they closed out their season. Andrew Carey, Tyler Morrison, Chris Pifer, Jay Boyd, and Ryan Parr were honored for their time on the team as well as their hard work.
The game started out with Trevecca dominating the field. In the sixth minute, Bruno De Moraes made a shot from outside the box into the back corner of the net to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
Trevecca continued added an insurance goal in the 71st minute by Jonathan Baskin. Baskin chipped it over the keeper and into the Scots goal to give them the 2-0 score.
The Scots fought back against the visiting team throughout the game. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the game, but the Trojans managed to score the two goals to win the game.
Covenant keeper Jacob Richter played the full 90 minutes while saving three of the five shots on goal. Trojan keeper Daniel Mudd saved all three shots on goal from the Scots.
With the loss, Covenant drops to 9-9-1 for the season. They will now await word on their opponent will be in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament on November 16. Check athletics.covenant.edu for all the latest information regarding postseason play.
