MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Covenant men's soccer team traveled to their final away game of the season on Saturday to play the Huntingdon College Hawks. The Scots came away with a 1-0 win on a Hudson Brock "golden goal" in the second overtime.
Covenant improves 9-8-1 with the win, while Huntingdon drops to 5-11-2 on the season.
The Hawks and the Scots faced off for a full 90-minute game plus a single overtime before a score was made. Brock managed to get his head on the ball after a cross from Matt Hudnut to win the game for Covenant in the 106th minute. The score was Brock's second of the season.
While the game was short on goals, it was not on shots. Covenant led the Hawks in shots 14-7, with 8-3 edge on goal. Chris Pifer took six shots with three on goal for the match. Brock followed with three shots and a goal while Roy Anderson and Hudnut each took two shots. Garrison Dale also squeezed off a shot for the Scots.
Covenant keeper Jacob Richter saved all three shots on goal from Huntingdon. Hawks keeper Alex Brown saved seven of the eight shots on goal.
The Scots return to Lookout Mountain on Tuesday, October 30th for their final game of the season against Trevecca Nazarene. It will be Senior Night for the Scots and will start at 7 p.m.
