LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Scots had been on the road for the opening five games of their season, but returned home to Lookout Mountain to play the Truett-McConnell Bears (3-1) on Saturday night in front of a large crowd at Scotland Yard. The Scots and the Bears each held their own into overtime until the Bears scored on "golden goal" to win 1-0.
After two 45-minute halves of intense soccer, the game went on into overtime. In the 95th minute, Truett-McConnell forward Trent Taylor dribbled past the Scots defense and took a shot eight yards out over Scots keeper Shuler Polk.
Covenant (1-5) managed to take seven shots during the match, two of which were on goal. Tyler Morrison made three shots in total, two on goal, while Chris Pifer also made two shots for the Scots. Jay Boyd and Joel Friesen each took a shot for Covenant.
Covenant keeper Polk managed to make seven saves for the Scots. Truett-McConnell keeper Kolby Mooney made two saves on the night.
The Scots will appear for another home game against Emory & Henry on September 19 at Scotland Yard. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
