CAYMAN ISLANDS- The Covenant Men's Soccer team was back on the field Thursday evening in a match versus George Town, a local club team on the island. The Scots are encouraged by their victory, and hope to continue gaining momentum as they return for pre-season camp at the end of this week. Below is a brief update about the team's activities on the island.
Cayman Islands Update from Friday, August 10, 2012:
The Scots collected their first win of the trip on Thursday night against George Town's local club team in a 3-1 victory. Joel Friesen ended the two game scoring drought with a cheeky touch past George Town's frozen goalkeeper after a well timed near post run. Tyler Morrison added a beautiful left footed curler in the second half, and David Heurtas concluded scoring with a great attacking header. "This win is extremely encouraging for our team. We've been working hard every day and last night's goals were a great reward. We've still got a lot of work to do to reach our potential, but it's looking really good," said Hunter Harrison. Outside of soccer, the team has been working at First Baptist church during the afternoons, helping with painting projects and moving various heavy looking things. Serving the local church in George Town has been a blessing.
