Matt returns to Covenant in his junior year as a crucial part of the Scots midfield. This past summer, Matt was a member of the Chattanooga Football Club's semi-pro team where he helped the team reach the 2012 NPSL Finals in San Diego, CA. In his sophomore season with the Scots, Matt was voted to the GSAC All-Conference first team and named a NCCAA Division I Player of the Week. Before coming to Covenant, Matt played soccer for Westminster Christian Academy where he was named to the All-State second team in his senior season. Matt played club soccer for the St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy and was a member of the Missouri ODP team for three years.
His parents are Sam and Linda Hudnut. When he is not on the pitch, Matt enjoys spending time with his roommates, reading, and playing intramural sports. One of his favorite Bible passages is 2 Timothy 4:1-5 which says, "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."
Matt is a Psychology major. After graduating from Covenant, he is thinking about attending graduate school to receive a masters and PhD in Psychology. He is also considering spending some time abroad following his senior year.
