ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team wrapped up the Chick-fil-A Invitational on Tuesday at Stonebridge Golf Club with a 16th place finish.
Covenant shot a 324 as a group in the final round to end the 36-hole tournament with a score of 639 (315-324). LaGrange, ranked 32nd in the nation, took home the team title with a 589 (285-304) and LaGrange's Ben Womack and Emory's Michael Rosenbloom tied atop the leaderboard at even-par, 144.
Nathan Hawkins carded a 75 in the final round and ended the tournament tied for 14th overall with a 151 (76-75). Hawkins was especially strong on the back nine on Tuesday as he carded a 1-under, 35 over the final nine holes that included back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. Hawkins finished the tournament with eight birdies, tied for the most of any player in the field.
Will DeMersseman finished with a 154 (75-79) for the tournament after a 79 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for37th in the tournament. The sophomore also found more success over the final nine holes as he shot even-par with two birdies to conclude the round.
John Livingston improved by two strokes in the final round as he finished with an 83 for a 168 (85-83) in the event. Crawford Collett had a two-day score of 166 (79-87), while Isaac Duncan was at 185 (88-97).
Covenant concludes the fall season on Oct. 28-29 at the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Alice Lloyd, at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Ga.
