LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team combined to shoot a +19 (307) on day two of the 2019 USA South Men's Golf Tournament at the Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Ga.
Huntingdon College was able to overtake Methodist with a -9 (279) on the day to take sole possession of first place at -20 (556). Drew Mathers (Huntingdon) posted a 69 (-3) on the day to take the individual lead at -8 (136) for the tournament.
Nathan Hawkins paced the Scots once again with four birdies but shot a +1 (73) on the day. Hawkins is currently T-19 on the individual leaderboard with a 149 two-day total. Marshall Kent pulled a pair of birdies but shot a +7 (79) for a 157 total over the two days. Josh Wall was able to match Kent's total, shooting a 79 for the second straight day for a 158. Will DeMersseman hit an 80 in consecutive days to post a 160 in the tournament and James Mitchell recovered to post a +4 (76) for a 161 two-day total.
Covenant wraps up the final round tomorrow. Mitchell continues to start the Scots off the tee beginning at 8:10 a.m. Hawkins is the last Scot to drive as he starts his round at 8:50 p.m.
