BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Led by Crawford Collett's 74, the Covenant men's golf team concluded the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational with an eighth place finish at the event held at the Brunswick Country Club.
The Scots carded a 306 in the final round, one stroke better than Monday's first round, to come in eighth out of 14 teams with a tournament score of 613 (307-306). Coastal Georgia, currently ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, took home the team title with a two-day score of 580 (282-298). Coastal Georgia's Jackson Lawlor was the medalist as he carded a 7-under, 137 (68-69) for the tournament.
Collett improved on his first round score to lead the Scots. The freshman posted a 74 in Tuesday's final round, a two-shot improvement over the first round, and came in a tie for 17th overall with a 150 (76-74). Josh Wall also saw improvement in the final round with his 76 to place 33rd with a 154 (78-76).
Nathan Hawkins and Will DeMersseman each had a 78 on Tuesday. Hawkins finished with a 155 (77-78) and DeMersseman had a two-round score of 157 (79-78). Marshall Kent ended the tournament with an 81 to round out at 157 (76-81).
Covenant will compete in the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate on March 4-5 at the Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Ga.
