LAGRANGE, Ga. -- After two rounds at the USA South Tournament at Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Covenant sophomore golfer Nathan Hawkins remains in a tie for 24th overall as he shot a 77.
North Carolina Wesleyan's Grady Anderson still leads the field after two rounds after he posted a 73 and is 3-under for the tournament. Methodist, ranked No. 3 in the nation, leads the team field after a 299 on Friday.
Hawkins bogeyed his first two holes of the day, but recovered to birdie the par-5, third hole to get back to 1-over on the day. The sophomore then remained even over the final six holes of the front nine to post a 37. Hawkins struggled a bit on the back nine, but ended up with the same score (77) that he had in Thursday's first round.
Among the individuals in the field, Hawkins and William Peace's Trey Capps are both at 154 (77-77) for the tournament. Berea's Kevin Kim is 46th in the field.
The third and final round of the USA South Tournament will start on Saturday morning. Hawkins will tee off at 8 a.m. and live results can be found here
