SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Nathan Hawkins finished up strong play with an 18th place finish at The Master's University Spring Invite, held at Sand Canyon Country Club, to lead the Covenant men's golf team to a 10th place finish overall.

Rounds two and three were mostly played on Tuesday, despite some inclement weather early in the day. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took home the team title with a three-round score of 885 (302-300-283), while host The Master's finished second at 897 (294-306-297).

Playing as an individual, UCLA's Phil Delisi was the medalist after shooting a 7-under, 209 (73-69-67) for the tournament.

The tournament field consisted of five Division III programs along with individuals from Division I programs UCLA, Michigan, and Cal Poly.

Hawkins followed up a 74 in Monday's first round with a 73 in round two before finishing with a 79 in the final round. The 226 for Hawkins was just two strokes off a career-best for a 54-hole tournament, a personal best he set last year at the USA South Tournament.

As a team, Covenant struggled in round two as the Scots carded a 340 as a group. However, the Scots rebounded in the final round to post a 322, the lowest round for the team in the event. Four of the five Covenant golfers tied or had their lowest rounds of the tournament in the final round.

Marshall Kent was 51st in the field with a 243 (80-88-75), which included a 75 in the final round. Josh Wall finished up with a 254 (83-88-83) as he shot his second 83 of the tournament in Tuesday's final round. Will Mayfield ended with a 263 (87-91-85), while Matthew Harvie improved in each round finishing at 286 (103-93-90).

Covenant will travel back to the area and compete in the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate on March 5-6 in Pine Mountain, Ga.
