Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Chick-fil-A Collegiate

ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team finished in 14th place overall at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Berry College at Stonebridge Golf Club on Tuesday.

No. 5-ranked Rhodes took the team title with a tournament score of 5-under, 571. 13th-ranked LaGrange had the individual champion in Osborn Theam as he carded a two-day score of 9-under, 135 for the tournament.

Covenant shot a 321 in Tuesday's final round to finish with a tournament score of 638 (317-321).

Marshall Kent and Will Mayfield led the way for the Scots individually as both finished in a tie for 45th in the event. Mayfield had a team-best 77 on Tuesday, including three birdies on the front nine, to finish with a 156 (79-77) for the tournament. Kent had a tough front nine, but recovered on the back with four birdies, to post an 80 and also score a 156 (76-80) in the event.

Nathan Hawkins followed up his 81 on Monday with another on Tuesday for a 162 (81-81), while Alan Craig finished with a 167 (81-86) and Ian Johnson a 177 (94-83).

UP NEXT

Covenant will compete in its final tournament of the fall on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Pinnacle Trust Invitational, hosted by Belhaven University at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon, Miss.
