ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team sits in 13th after the first round of the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome on Monday.
The Scots shot a 317 in the opening round of the 15-team event that features six nationally-ranked teams in the top 50.
Marshall Kent led the Scots with his 4-over 76 in the first round. Kent sits in a tie for 31st overall after he carded two birdies in the opening round. Will Mayfield also tallied a pair of birdies, both coming on the back nine, in the first round and shot a 79. Nathan Hawkins and Alan Craig both scored 81s to round out the top four Covenant scorers for the day. Ian Johnson finished with a 92.
No. 13-ranked, and USA South member, LaGrange leads the field after posting a 7-under 281, while the Panthers' Osborn Theam carded a 7-under 65.
