Golf Teams Open Spring Season at Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational

SEA ISLAND, Ga. -- The Covenant men's and women's golf teams opened the spring portion of their schedules this week at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational. The men's team improved their score by 20 strokes on day two of the tournament, but finished 16th in the field. 

On the women's side, Maggie Mauze and Ellie Blauw competed. Mauze finished in a tie for 43rd, while Blauw placed 57th.

Leading the men's team was sophomore Alan Craig. Craig posted a first round 79 and followed it up with an 83 in the final round on Tuesday to place in a tie for 54th overall. Nick Blauw carded an 81 on day two, while Scott McKnight scored an 82. Ian Johnson rounded out the Scots golfers with a 92 on Tuesday.

Host Coastal Georgia won the men's tournament with a two-day score of 577. The Mariners also had the medalist as Alastair Tidmore shot consecutive 71s to finish 2-under par for the invitational.

The Covenant men will be back on the course on March 30 when they compete in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama.
