Men's Golf Finishes at NCCAAs

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- The Covenant men's golf team shaved 12 strokes off their first round score, but it was not enough to advance to the third and final round of the NCCAA Men's Golf National Championships.

Covenant posted a round two score of 313 but the Scots could not climb into one of the top 12 spots to move on to tomorrow's final round.

Lee University currently holds a one shot lead over three teams with a 578 through two rounds. Zach Moore of Southern Wesleyan continues to lead all individuals as he is 8-under.

Sophomore James Van Nice once again led the Scots as he carded a 73 on Tuesday after a first round 77. Van Nice had two birdies in his round and he finished the day in a tie for 32nd, but missed the individual cut by one stroke.

Senior Cameron Lewis and freshman Alan Craig both had the biggest improvement among Covenant golfers on Tuesday as both trimmed 10 strokes off Monday's opening round. Lewis posted a 75 on Tuesday after an 85 in the first round, while Craig had a 77 after an 87 yesterday.

Junior Scott McKnight and freshman Nate Haney each scored 88s on Tuesday.

With Tuesday's round complete, the team has completed its fall portion of the 2013-14 schedule. Covenant will be back on the course in March.
