ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team wrapped up its play at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at the Coosa Country Club. The Scots could not improve on their day one score of 310 as they posted a 314 in the final round to place in a tie for 18th out of 25 competing teams.
Covenant and USA South member Piedmont tied for the 18th spot with identical 624 scores for the two-day tournament. Oglethorpe claimed the top spot with an even-par 576. Anthony Amodeo of Oglethorpe captured the top individual spot with a a 5-under par 139.
Cameron Lewis led Covenant on Tuesday with a 76, improving by six strokes from his round one score. Lewis finished with a 158 for the tournament. James Van Nice posted a 79 on Tuesday to place as Covenant's top overall finisher with a 154 which put him in a tie for 65th individually.
Scott McKnight also carded a 79 in the final round and had a two-day total of 157. Freshmen Alan Craig and Nate Haney registered an 80 and 82, respectively. Haney totaled a 158 while Craig had a 161. Nick Blauw finished off with an 86 in the final round for a 167.
Covenant finished tied with Piedmont and also placed better than Sewanee and fellow USA South member William Peace.
Covenant will be back on the course in competition on October 18-19 at the Maryville College Invitational.
