Hudson Welty will enter his first year as a volunteer assistant coach at Covenant in 2018-19.

Welty is a 2018 graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) where he a four-year player for longtime head coach Rocky Lamar. Welty led the Pioneers in rebounding as a senior in 2017-18 at 6.8 per game and tallied 594 rebounds in his career. He scored 798 career points (6.5 per game), with a career-high 8.0 points per game as a senior. He was also named a team captain in each of his final three years as a Pioneer.

In addition to his playing career, Welty served as a huddle leader for the FCA chapter at MidAmerica, helped with the Rocky Lamar Fundamentally Driven Basketball Camps, and was an assistant coach with the MoKan Basketball Club.

Originally from Parkville, Mo., Welty attended Park Hill South High School where he played varsity basketball for four years and earned All-Suburban Conference first team honors in 2012, 2013, and 2014 as well as All-District first team honors in 2012, 2013, and 2014. He was selected to play for Team Missouri in the GKCBCA All-Star Game as well as play for Team Missouri in the Missouri Challenge

Welty earned his degree in business administration in 2018.
