LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's basketball team released its current non-conference schedule ahead of the start of the 2020-21 season. The Scots are set to play five regular season contests, plus two exhibitions against Division I foes, spanning the month of December into early January and all on the road.

The USA South schedule has yet to be finalized and will be released later.

The Scots, who are coming off a 15-12 season that included a second straight USA South West title, will open the year on Dec. 1 in an exhibition at Division I Samford in Birmingham, Ala., at 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will be an exhibition for both teams and it will be Covenant's first visit to Samford since 2008 when the Scots hung with the Bulldogs in an 81-67 loss.

The Samford exhibition is the first of two against Division I opponents as Covenant will travel to take on Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, Dec. 12. Tip-off for that contest in Murfreesboro, Tenn., will be determined later.

Regular season play begins on Saturday, Dec. 5 with a trip to NAIA member Faulkner at 4 p.m. EST. The Scots and Eagles will be meeting for the first time since 1994 when they convene in Montgomery, Ala.

On Dec. 8-9, the Scots will head to Jackson, Miss., for a pair of games against Division III foes. Covenant will take on East Texas Baptist, in the first meeting between the Scots and Tigers, on Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. EST at Rugg Arena on the campus of Belhaven University.

The following day, the Scots will play Belhaven at 8 p.m. EST. The game will mark a second consecutive year that Covenant has played at Belhaven.

Following Christmas, the Scots will hit the road once again for two games. Covenant travels to Wilmore, Ky., on Dec. 30 to play NAIA member Asbury before heading to Fairfield, Ala., on Jan. 2 to play at Division II foe Miles.
