FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Another impressive week for Covenant men's basketball sophomore Will Crumly netted him a second straight USA South Player of the Week honor, the conference announced on Monday.
Crumly is the first Covenant men's basketball player to earn back-to-back player of the week honors from the USA South since 2013.
The sophomore forward was vital to the Scots' 3-0 week, with all wins coming against conference opponent. Crumly averaged 24.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and shot 61.7 percent from the field in the victories. He had 30 points and nine rebounds in a 75-69 win at Berea last Wednesday and then totaled a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds in a 77-59 win over Methodist on Friday. Crumly capped the week with 13 points and five boards in a 78-74 win over William Peace on Saturday.
Crumly has scored in double figures in all 15 games for the Scots this season and ranks second in the USA South in scoring at 22.5 points per game. He is also second in the league in rebounding at 9.6 per game, while ranking fourth in field goal percentage at 59.7 percent.
Over his last six games, Crumly has three 30-plus point games and scored at least 27 points in five of those contests. During the stretch, Crumly is averaging 27.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, while shooting 63.8 percent from the floor.
Covenant (9-6, 8-0 USA South) has won four straight games and leads the USA South West Division. The Scots are back in action on Friday at Greensboro (7:30 p.m.).
