LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Five players scored in double figures for the Covenant men's basketball team and the Scots snapped a three-game losing skid with a 73-60 victory at Millsaps on Friday evening at the Hangar Dome.

The win gets the Scots back to .500 at 5-5 on the year, while Millsaps drops to 3-8 overall.

Caleb Haynes scored a career-high 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Patjo Twagirayezu had a team-best 15 points to go along with six boards. Bailey Spragg tallied 14 points, six rebounds and six assists and Connor Sears recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Z Arima added 11 points, four assists and four steals.

Covenant took control early on as the Scots jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the early minutes after Berto Dryden converted an old-fashioned three-point play at the 16:33 mark. The lead expanded to 13-2 just two minutes later on a 3-pointer from Arima. Millsaps would cut the lead to four on two occasions later in the half, but Covenant pushed the margin back to 10 at 35-25 at the half.

The Scots shot 42.9 percent in the first half, but defensive pressure created 13 Millsaps turnovers which helped the Scots develop a double-digit lead.

Covenant kept its foot on the pedal in the second half as the lead would extend to 20 just over three minutes into the half. A Spragg 3-pointer at the 16:55 mark gave the Scots their largest lead of the contest at 47-27 and capped a 12-2 run to begin the half.

The Scots would lead by at least nine points the rest of the way to secure the win, and the second road victory of the year.

Covenant shot 45.2 percent (28-of-62) from the field and was also 10-of-12 from the free throw line. The Scots dished out 18 assists on their 29 made field goals. Covenant held a 38-29 rebounding edge and outscored the host Majors 11-5 in second chance points.

Sam Kohnke had a game-high 19 points for Millsaps, while Brennan Gagen had 16 points. Trent Markwith added five points, seven rebounds and five assists in a reserve role. The Majors connected on just 40.8 percent (20-of-49) for the game.
