KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Coming off a career year, Covenant men's basketball senior guard TJ Cox was selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-South District second team, announced the organization on Thursday morning.
The All-District teams are selected by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division III.
Cox becomes the first player in the program's NCAA era to earn all-district honors from the NABC. He is one of three players from the USA South to earn a spot on either the first or second All-District team.
The senior guard from Charlotte, N.C., led the Scots in scoring at 14.6 points per game to go along with 3.6 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. Cox shot 37.4 percent from the 3-point line where he made a team-best 64 3s on the year. Cox scored in double figures 22 times with a career-high 34 points coming in a 96-81 victory over Birmingham Southern on Dec. 12. After that 34-point effort, Cox earned USA South Player of the Week honors on Dec. 14. Cox later earned All-USA South first team honors.
Cox's play was elevated in the postseason. He averaged 16.7 points and 5.3 assists in three USA South Tournament victories leading the Scots to the conference championship and was named Tournament MVP.
For his career, Cox scored 912 points (10.5 points per game) in 87 career games with 287 assists and 127 made 3-pointers.
