Spragg Earns USA South Rookie of the Week Award

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant men's basketball freshman Bailey Spragg has been named USA South Rookie of the Week for the period ending Jan. 17, announced the conference on Monday.

Spragg is the first player in program history to earn USA South Rookie of the Week. He is the second men's basketball player to pick up a weekly honor this year joining TJ Cox (Dec. 14).

The Windermere, Fla., native averaged 14.0 points, three assists, 2.5 rebounds and two steals per game to help Covenant to a 2-0 week. He scored a career-high 17 points with three assists, three steals and three rebounds in a thrilling 79-77 win at William Peace on Friday. Spragg capped the week with 11 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal in a 77-71 win at North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday.

On the year, Spragg is averaging 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He has played in all 15 games and made seven starts for Covenant (9-6, 4-1 USA South).
