LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Bailey Spragg, a senior at The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.), has committed to attend Covenant College and play basketball for head coach Kyle Taylor starting in the fall of 2015.
Spragg is a 6-foot guard and led his team to a 47-14 record over the last two years against one of the toughest schedules in the state of Florida. This past year, Spragg's team went 26-5 overall with district and region championships and a final four appearance.
"I'm excited to come up to Covenant and play basketball," Spragg said. "I want to make Covenant basketball a competitive program that has a lot of success in the next four years. I'm looking forward to getting a great education and growing in my faith."
"I couldn't take Bailey out of the game, because he had such a huge impact on winning for us," The First Academy head coach Chris Mayberry said of Spragg. "He has been one of the most enjoyable players for me to coach in my career. He has phenomenal work ethic, character, and his commitment to the team and to getting better is fantastic. He is also a fierce competitor and wants to win."
Taylor is also excited to have Spragg join the team. "We are thrilled that he is coming to Covenant College. Bailey is a great defender, fierce competitor, and a winner. With this recruiting class we really wanted to go after high school players who played on a high level, and contributed on great teams. Bailey has done that at TFA for the past two years."
Off the court, Spragg excelled in the classroom as he holds a GPA of 4.27 at TFA. Spragg plans to major in Biology at Covenant. He is the son of Scott and Anne Spragg.
