LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's basketball program, under sixth-year head coach Kyle Taylor, has announced its 2014-15 schedule. The Scots will play 25 contests, with 11 of those taking place inside Barnes PE Center.
Covenant will play six of its first seven games on the road in November and December. The Scots will also play the first four games of USA South play on the road, but will have a five-game homestand in the end of January into the middle of February.
The season begins in earnest on Nov. 15 as Covenant travels to Maryland for a showdown with Stevenson at 1 p.m. The Scots will travel just down the road for a contest with Goucher on Nov. 17 to conclude that part of the road trip. After a trip to face Birmingham Southern, Covenant will open its home schedule on Nov. 25 against Oglethorpe.
Covenant will open USA South play at Ferrum on Jan. 2 and will continue that road trip at Averett (Jan. 3), at Methodist (Jan. 9) and at Greensboro (Jan. 10). The home USA South opener will be against North Carolina Wesleyan on Jan. 16 followed by a tilt with William Peace at home on Jan. 17.
The Scots will play a pair of non-conference foes in February as both Berry (Feb. 10) and Berea (Feb. 14) come to Lookout Mountain.
The USA South tournament is tentatively set for Feb. 26-28, depending on which school is hosting the tournament. The top team in the final conference regular season standings will host the eight-team tournament.
